Dining on Long Beach island , New Jersey – LBI Restaurant Reviews

Most of the dining on LBI is casual. You can usually find an establishment that matches your needs, especially if you love seafood. Keep in mind that during the peak season there are often long waits for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, many of the restaurants are BYOB. There are a number of package stores where you can easily purchase wine including most of the local supermarkets.

You can also review our restaurant listings grouped by town. We’ve included some suggestions regarding our favorite restaurants. Some of the Seafood restaurants are take out only. When we categorize a restaurant as “upscale” remember that is relevant. Dining on LBI is relatively casual.

  • Beach Haven – about six miles south of the causeway.

    • Water Views: Bistro 14 (limited), The Boat House, the Gazebo at Schooner’s Wharf

    • On the beach: the Palm Grill,

    • Local Flavor: Buckalews, Hudson House Bar

    • Eclectic: The Gables

    • Family Fun: The Showplace

  • Long Beach Township – given the size of the township, the restaurants are widely scattered throughout it

    • Upscale: Daddy O

    • Water View: The Bayside Diner, Howards (Somewhat limited)

    • Ocean View:– The Spray Beach Inn (Limited view)

    • Italian: Stephano’s, Gino’s Italian Riviera

    • Local Flavor:– The Terrace Tavern, Kubel’s Too

    • Seafood: Beach Haven Fishery, Howard’s Restaurant, M&M Steam Bar,

    • Coffee House: Cafe Bacio

  • Ship Bottom – a decent collection of mostly midrange restaurants

    • Steaks: Voodoo Steakhouse

    • Internet Cafe:  How’s You  Brewing

    • Local Flavor: Bakers Port Hole, Joe Pop’s

    • Seafood: Seven C’s Seafood Center, Ship Bottom Shell Fish, Surf City Fishery Company, Wheelhouse Seafood Restaurant

    • Upscale: Raimondo’s, La Spiaggia

  • Surf City – Probably the best collection of more upscale dining on the island

    • Local Flavor: The Surf City Hotel

    • Upscale: Blue, Yellow Fin

    • Seafood: Blue Claw Seafood Market, Boulevard Clams, Lobster Claw

  • Harvey Cedars – the biggest draw here is the Plantation Restaurant

    • Seafood: Harvey Cedars Shellfish

    • Upscale: The Plantation Restaurant

  • Barnegat Light – about a half dozen diners at restaurants

    • Family Fun: Kelly’s Old Barney Restaurant

    • Seafood: Viking Fresh Off the Hook

    • Local Flavor: Kubel’s

    • Coffee House: Village Brew
