The Silver Sun Mall in Beach Haven NJ (Formerly Koseff's) – LBI Views

The Silver Sun Mall is located at 3rd Street and the Boulevard in Beach Haven. It houses a variety of small stores selling beach goods, art and clothing.  Prior to it’s current incarnation as a mall, the Silver Sun was home to Koseff’s,

The Koseff Brothers got their start selling Peanuts and other things to passengers arriving on the Tuckerton – Long Beach Island trains. The southern end of the railroad terminated at Station Plaza and 3rd Street. The railroad station was torn down and replaced by houses.  They built a hardware and fishing tackle store. During the 1960’s my father and I made many a run to Koseff’s for items for the house.

Some time in the 1970’s they did a major renovation to the store. It was no longer a plain old hardware store. A large portion of the store was dedicated to upscale furniture and decor. Unfortunately this was at a time when the island was still composed of small cape cod cottages and bungalows. They redesigned the store as a mall. At one time there was a food court with a ‘ship’ for seating. One of the stands sold fried ice cream.  The Koseff family retained a small variety store in the mall.

The food court was eventually removed and the store was converted to it’s present configuration.
