Howards | lbiviews

Howards has been a fixture on LBI since the 1950s. Our trip there with our son represented the fourth generation of dining at Howard’s. My grandfather regularly took the family there in the 1960’s 70’s.They dont take reservations so you might have to wait for a table. We lucked out in that they had a table for 5 ready as soon as we arrived. A large number of the tables face the marina although the water view is somewhat limited. The dor is simple seashore. There are numerous old photographs of Long Beach Island decorating the walls. If you have the time, they are definitely worth a look. The rolls are served warm and fresh. They are known for their seafood. I ordered scallops in an orange sauce. This came with a side of salad and I opted for the rice. The scallops were tasty and tender. We were on a bit of a schedule so we didnt get to try the deserts. Most people will drive unless you are staying in the immediate area. Parking is a little tight. As we mentioned earlier, they dont take reservations. There is a fairly large indoor waiting area that is air conditioned. If its a nice day, you can watch the boats coming and going in Southwicks Marina.

Howards has been around since 1950. They serve classic traditional fresh and tasty seafood. The restaurant sits on a dock so you have a view of the water and boats. The dining room is very bright and cheery vintage old photos of the area, white tablecloths, fresh white daisies and red carnations top the tables Bright red Victorian floral valences grace the huge and numerous windows. To start I had oysters Rockefeller the oysters were so plump and juicy next I had deviled clams topped with bacon. The salad was mixed greens with chunks of blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette Next, I had crab and 3 small lobster tails all were delicious and very fresh.
